The Ninja: a little triangular hero
Who is the ninja? He is the heart and soul of my drawings collected under the iCosini brand. This little triangular-shaped character with a fighting spirit is more than just an illustration:
is a symbol of personal growth, inner strength and creativity.
Despite its simple design, the ninja manages to communicate deep emotions, gracefully dealing with both life and artistic challenges.
The history of the ninja: how it came into being
I had already drawn that little triangular character in the midst of the other Cosini, but only in a moment of difficulty did I identify him as a ninja. I really needed a character that was simple to draw, like a triangle with a simple eye mask, but would symbolize my alter ego in analyzing my emotions and feelings.
I became attached right away: he symbolized just what I needed, which was the strong part I was looking for in myself to be able to stand up in this difficult and tiring time of life. A combative, determined alter ego that would allow me to get up and get my strength back.
Representing emotions in order to understand them
Ninja allowed me to understand some of the emotions I was feeling. By drawing them, I went through that process of understanding and acceptance that allows one to come back into balance.
- the knot in the throat
- dangerous, harmful, scary thoughts
- that emotion churning in the belly, agitation in the solar plexus
- feeling locked in a cage
- feeling in the dark abyss, and trying to climb back up to the light
The symbolism of the ninja: your inner strength
Although it is an extremely simple design that anyone can reproduce, the ninja has features that make him expressive.
The two katanas on his back show that he is fierce, ready for action. I don't always draw him with swords on his back--sometimes he just relaxes quietly, without weapons or armor: simply ninja on vacation.
The mask where the eyes are located may bend slightly: it only takes a little to summon a smile or an outraged, or sad, expression. The eyes move around to direct the gaze and attention to the focal element in the illustration.
Hands, and legs, bend. In my head I see it as if it were rubbery. These curved deformations can give movement to the ninja's form and thus give him expressiveness. Whether he is sad and curved, or in motion, is given by how his extremities bend.
Where the ninja lives in my drawings
The ninja is featured in many of my works, from picture cards to custom drawings. He can be seen facing daily challenges, taking refuge in quiet moments or exploring the world with a positive approach. Its unobtrusive yet powerful presence makes it the ideal companion for those seeking inspiration and motivation.
I often make commissioned drawings, where the ninja is not required or does not have to be the protagonist. In these cases I like to hide the little ninja in a corner of the illustration, as a small, unobtrusive witness. I like to play this game, then challenge my community to look for the hidden ninja. It's kind of like a signature.
Why the ninja can inspire you
I think everyone can see themselves in this little hero.
Whether you are looking for a message of encouragement, a touch of irony or a moment of introspection, the ninja is there to accompany you.
You can use it to draw your emotions-it is easy to draw, and you can outline the symbols you need to understand the moment and the feeling you are in. You, too, have a little inner ninja, the strong part in you that helps you move forward and get back up in times of trouble.
You can even commission a personalized illustration featuring the ninja, making it the protagonist of a unique story that speaks directly to you or someone you want to give a special gift to.
